After some really great reactions to the "Let's Vibe (Mini Mix)", I went home from work the day I released it and started playing with another idea I had.  I wanted to show a few different sides of reggae music.  I started doing some research on it when a long time friend of mine began introducing me to a list of different artists back in high school (what up Yale!).  I became a bigger fan after discovering all the different influences it came from and gaining a better understanding of it's roots and culture.

The idea with this mix is to show my appreciation for all sides of it.  From roots to the party joints, I wanted to try and cover all sides.  I hope y'all enjoy this.  Big shout outs to the mega homie, Shon Dervis for the help. Respect!

 These mini mixes are building into a series so stay tuned for more!  I will also continue including a track list for every mix.  My purpose with these is to simply spread music that I love listening to and rarely get to play as a DJ.

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I listen to outside of my hip hop endeavors.  The tracks in this mix are all tracks I have been listening to on repeat over the past few months and I decided to just put together a mini mix of them for y'all.  The point of this mix is nothing more than to experience some different music that is sonically proper (at least in my opinion, haha).  No cuts, no crazy drops, none of that.  Just some feel good tunes from different parts of the world.   I also wanted to include a track list so everyone can grab the tracks if they find them of interest.  

Listen to this with open ears and an open mind.  You may just catch the hidden message...

[AUDIO] SCHEME & DJ SCEND - TT&AM: Pete Rock Series

Teaming up in 2010, Scheme and DJ Scend immediately set out to set themselves apart from the masses. The concept of Emcee and DJ as a duo is one they were set on reviving and breathing a new life into. Busy brainstorming ways to highlight both their talents, the idea for the Two Turntables and a Mic series came to mind. The series of projects, each paying respect to a different producer is their way of showcasing one another doing what they do as well as paying their respect to the great producers of Hip-Hop.

With three series currently released and the 4^th dropping today; Two Turntables and a Mic will soon become a mix tape series Scheme and DJ Scend will be releasing by the end of the year.

Today Molemen x SRNC x RubyHornet.com present the TT&AM: Pete Rock Series.

I'm a day late in posting these (busy day yesterday), but I wanted to hit y'all with some pics I was able to catch from Day 2 of shooting for the TT&AM Pete Rock Series.  This video is being shot and directed by Sense Hernandez for Beast Factory Films.

Day 2 was shot at the legendary WHPK (88.5 FM) here in Chicago.  We had a blast despite that hot ass room!  lol

The mega homie David Estrada of Estrada31 Clothing contacted my Molemen Records fam last year about doing a shoot with some of their artists.  A bunch of us got together, had the shoot and it developed into a dope friendship with David.

I was featured as one of the artists sporting his gear along side the rest of the crew (Scheme, Astonish, JAmal Science, Sense Hernandez, Slot-A and more).

[PICS - BTS] 2T&AM: Pete Rock Series (Video Shoot - Day 1)

Yesterday morning, Scheme, Adrian, Jessie and myself packed up and headed out for a 7am video shoot with Sense Hernandez of Beast Factory Films.  This marked day 1 of filming for the next 2T&AM Series featuring production from the legendary Pete Rock.

[AUDIO] Clew Rock - Theraflu (Remake)

The homie Clew Rock called me last week telling me he wanted to do a remake to Kanye West's recently released track, Theraflu.  He wanted to put his own spin on it and I was down to do it.  We linked up earlier today and knocked this one out for y'all.
Clew has an EP in the works set to release later this fall (2012).  Expect more leaked music from him under the SRNC Music brand until then.

[NEWS] Q-Tip signs to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music Label

So, the legendary music mogul, Q-Tip, has officially announced his new ventures with G.O.O.D. Music.  Kanye West has done a lot with this label, but adding someone like Q-Tip to the roster is going to bring a whole different sound, at least in my eyes.  I'm very excited to see what comes from this.  Q-Tip will be releasing his next solo project, The Last Zulu, under the label with a projected release time of early 2013.

[VIDEO] No Feedback: NITTY SCOTT, MC x ESOHEL x ST BAGU x RITA J

 

The Beast Factory Films family documented Nitty Scott, MC's 1st time being in Chicago to perform back in February of this year and made this awesome recap video.  They all did such an amazing job on this one.  I (DJ Scend) was holding down the music for the night in between acts and he makes a quick cameo on this.  Once again, awesome job by the Beast Factory Films team.  They're work just keeps getting more and more difficult for people to match in quality and entertainment value!

The Chicago homies from Hip Hop Rap Info took some time to do an interview w/ myself & Scheme during our ventures through SXSW 2012 in Austin, TX last month. 

"Scheme touches upon being a Mexican hip hop artist while Scend describes his views on what makes him the DJ he is.  The duo also leaked some brief info on upcoming projects they are both working on as a duo and as individual artists"
